A Good Studio Space

sony vaio Good studio space starts with a well light functional space.  Nobody can get anything done in a room they can't stand.  I quickly found that changing my studio space to a functional system of items and materials that interest me inspired more creativity.  Not only that but it did not bother me as much to spend a whole afternoon working on projects and brainstorming solutions to problems.

Current Setup
This is an example of a simple but ideal setup that I came across.  Now a dual monitor or large single monitor would make this better as you can view more at once but this one has the bare necessities   A laptop is ideal so you can take your work outside the studio even though desktops are more powerful.  The speakers provide much better sound for editing audio in videos and aid in music creation.  A large capacity external hard drive to hold all the raw and project files is ideal.  This is important because large projects with lots of files will take up large amounts of space and slow your computer.  What you cannot quite see is the cables underneath the desk.  Instead of having a lot of wires going across the desk, it is better to get a USB hub so you can have multiple devices on one plugin.  Makes the desk space much cleaner.

Having a design board with various works including inspirational pieces the individual likes.  Its always good to regularly see others work to give your own work inspiration.  These boards are also good for posting sticky notes that can be useful for team collaborations.  For very large projects layout each stage of the design process to give yourself a better feel for how the project is coming along.

Abstract Shards

Having a sheet of foam core or a clean surface to photo shoot on is a good idea for uploading your sculpture or art online. Make sure you have some good lighting to make the photos look smooth.

iPod Touch
Lastly it is always ideal to keep your equipment and software up to date so you can work as efficiently as possible.  With new advances in tablet technology, most of us can do most of our work on tablets alone.  I understand its not always feasible as I have trouble keeping up myself.  Thank you for reading and check back for more.
